Prep - Year 2

In the lower years we have been working on the basic Fundamental Motor Skills (Fundamentals).  In term 1 is was all about moving the body with skills such as: running, hopping, skipping, jumping off 1 and 2 feet, leaping, etc.  Students practiced running in races, throgh ladders, around objects while changing direction and in games.  They practiced jumping over small and large hurdles, jumping high and long and obsticle courses.  

In term 2 students have been working on basic Fundamental Motor Skills of throwing, cathcing, rolling and bouncing, using a variety of balls and objects.  They played a new game called Angry Birds where the object of the game was to knock down the tower of equipment with the balls they had.  This helped them practice their throwing and aiming skills.  We continue to practice the Fundamentals through bouncing games of Steal Ball and cathcing activies using, ball launchers, different size balls, bean bags, etc.

Year 3 - 6

In term 1 the older years worked on their Striking and Fielding Games of modified Cricket, T-ball and Softball.  Developing their hitting, throwing, cathcing and bowling skills as well as Tactics needed in these games.

In term 2 the students continue to develop their Invasion Games through modified sports of Netball, Soccer, Basketball, AFL and Rugby.  They have been practicing the different skills needed in each game such as throwing, catching, kicking, hand balling, dribblng, passing, shooting, etc.  They have also been transfering their tactical knowledge from one game to another, developing their attacking and defending awareness skills as well as working as part of a team.
