Performing Arts
Juniors:
This semester students learnt about the percussion family and how to identify and draw different percussion instruments. They learnt to play different rhythms, on a multitude of different percussion instruments. Students learnt about dynamics, and how to play both soft and loud. They learnt to sing the chorus of 'Shine', in time with others.
The prep classes loved sharing their knowledge of all they know about percussion instruments and showing me how well the could keep the beat.

Middles:
This semester students learnt to play the xylophone. They focused on the song 'Count on Me' by Bruno Mars. Students learnt about rhythm and timing. They also learnt about dynamics and played loud (forte) and soft (piano). Students learnt to identify the different parts of the xylophone and how to care for their instruments. They learnt to sing the chorus of ‘Shine’ in time with others and alone using different dynamics.
Seniors:
This semester students learnt to play the ukulele. They focused on the song ‘I'm Yours’ by Jason Mraz. They played four different chords and had opportunities to learn different strumming patterns. Students learnt to play with soft (piano) and loud (forte) dynamics. They identified the different parts of the instrument and learnt how to tune their instruments. Students recorded themselves playing ukulele and uploaded their work to Seesaw.
