Positive Education

Positive Education aims to combine the science of Positive Psychology with best practice teaching to support students to flourish in their learning and everyday life. Positive Education classes in Term 2 are focusing on developing specific strategies and skills aimed to assist students to explore emotions, enhance personal resilience, practice mindfulness, and to build positive relationships.

In Term 2 we have been exploring emotional literacy. In coming to know and name emotions, students are building a large vocabulary for emotions that helps to increase emotional literacy, build self-awareness of their own and others emotions and to have empathy (Vic Curriculum, RRRR). Students will go on to explore and identify personal strengths this term and learn how personal strengths can help people to learn and thrive.

Students at all levels have continued to explore and practice mindfulness techniques including breathing techniques, being present and connecting to nature and meditation. Students have learnt that our minds benefit from practicing mindfulness every day to grow and be healthy. They continue to access resources from the Peaceful Kids Program.

Students in Grade 1 explore the ways emotions can be shown in body language.
