National Simultaneous Storytime 2024

National Simultaneous Storytime 2024

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

This year 'Bowerbird Blues' by Aura Parker was the NSS book. Aura Parker's picture books are joyful with a playful sense of humour, brimming with details to explore. Aura Parker's storytelling through words and pictures inspires imagination, courage and confidence in young readers as well as a love, curiosity and passion for nature.

This year NSS took place on Wednesday 22 May 2024 at 12:00 noon. The Prep, Grade 1 & Grade 2 students from PVNPS took part in this national event. We read along with over 2.3 million other Australian's at over 21 000 locations, and then engaged in activities based on the book.
