 Mother's Day Prayer

Welcome to Week 5 at St John's Primary School.  Last week was filled with so many community events combined with our Parish which I look forward to sharing with you as you read on.  For now I pray that all of our Mums, grandparents and special friends shared some quality time together yesterday with loved ones.  Some of us may have our mums in heaven but may their love and traditions live on in us always.  I know that following these traditions and passing on the love they gave us will honour them greatly and they will never be forgotten.

St John's First Eucharist Celebrated on 4 May

Last weekend we celebrated our Eucharist Mass for our Year 4 students and other students who had chosen to make this commitment. The lead up to the First Eucharist is always so exciting, which includes the Eucharist retreat day, our First Communicants visiting the other classes and the time in class to prepare, learn and reflect.

Each student is given a buddy class in our school so that they can pray together, give handmade cards and give special wishes and blessings. We congratulate all of our students for their reverence during this special celebration and to our community for welcoming the students to our Eucharist community.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day Mass

Wednesday, 1 May, filled the hearts of many students, staff, parents and grandparents as we commenced the special morning with Mass in our church. It is so important to have our extended community together like this so that we can acknowledge and celebrate the courage our families. Our church was filled with family and friends who love us unconditionally. Tears were seen, but these were the tears of joy and deep love. God reminds us in scripture  'If today you hear his voice do not let your hearts be hardened' (Hebrews 3:15 ) and it is in moments like these that we let our hearts melt completely.  We give thanks for all grandparents and special visitors.

Our Year 6 leaders Lachlan and Kirralee shared a poem called 'When you thought I wasn't looking" and this touched the hearts of many who know the impact that they have on our children and families.  I thought that I would share it with you as many friends asked for a copy.
