Around the College

Celebrating our Wonderful Women

The college extended its gratitude to all of the wonderful women in our community on Friday last week when we hosted a Wonderful Women Cuppa & Catch Up event.

There was a fantastic turnout of women who support the students of St Anne’s College and it was wonderful to see them enjoying the learning space together.

Children engaged in activities like colouring, board games and craft with their wonderful women before heading to class while the women enjoyed a beautiful breakfast.

Children in the School of Wonder welcomed the women to join them in their classes during the first session which was a fantastic chance for them to see the children’s learning spaces.

See the beautiful images and video that were taken at the event below and our 'favourite thing about my mum' video here. Keep an eye out for you and your loved ones!

Bangarra Rekindling Program

In Terms 1 and 2, students participated in the Bangarra Rekindling Youth Program – a traditional dance program. The program began with On Country gatherings with around 30 students in Years 6-11 from our college and several other schools across Shepparton where elders and community leaders shared their stories and knowledge.

Following this, students met at Rumbalara Football Netball Clubrooms to start using the information from the On Country visits to create a dance. Students worked on their dances and rehearsed throughout April and May before the program culminated in a final performance last week.

Congratulations to students Corey and Jayden for their awesome enthusiasm and efforts during the program.

There will be further information released to families in the future about how they can view a recording of the process. Thank you to Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project for providing the amazing photos of the students' journey through the program below:

Lunchtime Chess Club

Students have come together to put their skills and strategy to the test with a lunchtime chess club.

The activity is a great way for students to connect through shared interest and develop their chess skills at the same time.

Congratulations to the students for embracing this lunchtime club helping to build student engagement, social skills and inclusion for all.
