Gift Stall
We had a very successful Mothers’ Day and Gifts of Appreciation stall this morning, and it was just lovely to see the excitement of the children as they deliberated over and selected a gift for the special women in their lives.
Huge thanks to Pooja Jethra (Mum of Nimay in Grade 5), for the enormous amount of work she did in the lead up to and on the day of the stall. Thank you too to all the parents who volunteered their time to help with wrapping presents and manning the stall.
Apple & Pear Fundraiser
Every year, Sherwood Park Orchard receives plenty of eager visitors to pick their own fruit. The PFA has again organised for Sherwood Park Orchard to pick apples and pears for us. Choice includes Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples, as well as Packham pears – each are $7.50 for a 2kg bag – a great price for farm fresh fruit, delivered direct to Carnegie! Every 2kg bag sold will bring just over $2 back to the school.
Orders are open in Qkr until Sunday 12th May, and pick up will be from school on Thursday 16th May. We still need a few volunteers to help distribute fruit on the day - please sign up https://signup.com/go/rfQFDNp at if you can help.
Where has the money gone in previous years?
Your ongoing generosity and support of fundraising initiatives enables the PFA to support the school in a range of ways. A few examples of the recent purchases that have been funded with money raised through PFA activities include:

- An additional Flag Pole for the Torres Strait Islands flag
- CPS branded Swimming Caps for use by students competing in interschool swimming competitions
- The framing of tiles decorated by students and now on display in the staircase leading up to the Grade 6 classrooms.
- An aboriginal mural to be painted in front of the Prep classrooms by Uncle Steve Parker, Boorwurron Elder (artist and performer)
- Building works for the new shade sail to be installed over the decking outside the Prep classrooms
- Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) items for the Prep area
What is coming
- Literacy items, including new library books that supports the Orton-Gillingham approach
- Redevelopment of the bike shed area
- New sandpit toys

We always need willing parent volunteers to help run many of our events and initiatives. Helping out from time to time is a great way to bring fun events to life for the students, connect with other parents, and to get a glimpse into primary school life!
Please bookmark our volunteering opportunities and check them out every now and then as they are regularly updated - https://signup.com/go/rfQFDNp.
It’s really easy to sign up for any that suit you - you will not need to register an account or keep a password on signup.com.
Many thanks in advance!
