Indonesian Cultural Day

at Heathmont College

Apa khabar (How are you)? On 22nd April 2024, it's our utmost pleasure to be invited to Heathmont College to delve deeper into Indonesian culture, build connections with local public schools, indulge ourselves in the aroma of Nasi Goreng. Our students were showing high participation, depicting GRPS values by respecting the facilitators, being responsible on their belongings and participation, and never stopped learning as a good learner. We are truly amazed by our students' holistic behaviour. Bagus sekali!

What did we do?

  1. 'Topeng muka' (mask making) - Based on the Indonesian folks' tale 'Ramayana', students showed their creativity to design the characters in the story.

2. 'Pencak Silat' (Indonesian martial art)

Students learned the gist of Indonesian martial art, 'pukul' (hit), 'tendang' (kick) and

     'bela' (defend).

3. 'Tarian Poco-poco' (Poco-poco dance)

Some of our students had the opportunity to have a 'sarung' (sarong) around their waist      and danced. Austin Walker and Justin St-Ange were chosen to dance at the students'          presentation. Mantap!

4. 'Sepak takraw' (foot volleyball)

Students had a go on kicking the rattan ball and everyone did skilfully.

5. 'Nasi Goreng' by Flying Wok

Palatable and nutritious fried rice, white rice, Japanese salad and Teriyaki chicken                  were served at the event. Enak sekali!
