Education Week

Wonderful to celebrate Education Week last week at Raywood PS with our local playgroup kids joining us Monday morning for some literacy learning and then on Friday we were joined by a large group of grandparents who joined their grandchildren for some fun literacy learning and fitness activities ran by Skylar and Mia. Thank you to our school community for helping us celebrate learning at Raywood PS last week and for your continued support of our students at home.

Education Support Day

Last week we celebrated ES day by recognising the work of our wonderful Business Manager Bree. As many of you know, Bree is the glue that holds our school together and we would be lost without her!

Raywood PS Values Award

This term we have begun to award a Raywood PS Values Award at the end of each week. At Raywood PS, our school values are Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. These values were chosen by students and our school community back in 2022 and are still a nice fit for the focus of our school. Last fortnight our recipients were Beau and Kai. Congratulations boys!

Student Attendance

As we approach the half way mark of Term 2 we have reflected on how the attendance of our students has been tracking at school. This term, our current attendance rate is 82%, with our students being away from school for a combined 75 days of learning so far since Easter. This is something we would really like to improve over the next 6 weeks of Term 2 as we know that school is better when our students are here and that every day matters. That being said, we know that from time to time students will be away and thank you to our wonderful families who let us know of an absence either through UEducateUs or by text or phone call, at school we are required to report on absences and letting us know helps us complete these important steps.

Student Individual Education Plans

At Raywood PS, all of our students are supported with an Individual Education Plan that is a written document that describes the current literacy and numeracy goals your child is working to achieve this term in the classroom. This week students will bring home a take-home copy of their Individual Education Plan. Older students may be aware of some parts of their plan and familiar with their current learning goals, however for junior students they won’t be as these are documents just put together by James and Jess to monitor our students individual learning needs. We hope these are informative snapshots into your child’s learning objectives at the moment.

Prospective Preps 2026

June is a busy time for transitions both to primary school for our local kinder children and to secondary school for Grade 6 students. If you are considering enrolling your child at our school in 2026, please contact our office to organise a tour of our school and see how Raywood PS could be a good fit for your child’s education.

Child Safety and Wellbeing

Our school is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe. Our child safety framework [available on our website at https://www.raywoodps.vic.edu.au/page/18/Policies] explains how we support and maintain child safety and wellbeing at Raywood PS. It includes our:

  • Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
  • Child Safety Reporting and Responding Obligations Procedures, and
  • Child Safety Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours for all staff and volunteers at our school.

Our students and families are important partners in providing a child safe environment. These regular newsletter reminders are one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:

  • our commitment to child safety, and
  • how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.

If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact the Principal at school. Any child safety complaints or concerns are treated seriously. For more information about our school’s complaints process, see our Complaints Policy.

We also welcome your ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing. If you have any suggestions or comments please contact the Principal at school or via email at james.sait@education.vic.gov.au

Thanks Everyone,

James Sait
