St Roch's ANZAC Day Liturgy

We were honoured on the eve of ANZAC Day, last Thursday afternoon to welcome three Vietnam veterans to our whole school Liturgy. Mr Gary Walker, Harriet Jones, a current Year 5 student laid a wreath with her grandfather. Mr David Canny,  Maggie Callinan’s (past student) Great Uncle and Mr Barry Hyland, a fellow soldier who served alongside Dave in Vietnam joined us at St Roch's. It was a moving way to acknowledge and remember the courage, sacrifice, and mateship displayed by those who have served our country.

As Sir William Dean,  Governor-General of Australia so aptly put into words on ANZAC Day in1999:  Anzac is not merely about loss. It is about courage, endurance, and duty, and love of country, and mateship, and good humour and the survival of a sense of self-worth and decency in the face of dreadful odds.

I would like to thank the SRC Representatives from Prep to Year 6 who led this assembly with such composure along with the SRC Leaders Kimmy Cheng and Maddie Setiawan.  Thanks to all of the Year 6 students who contributed to the liturgy with complete reverence and respect. I would also like to thank the families who attended and the staff who supported.

Prep Buddy Easter Egg Hunt

There was great excitement on Wednesday as the Preps assisted by their Year 6 buddies collected the hidden plastic eggs from the adventure playgrounds. The Year 6 students had decorated and Easter basket for the Preps and after a story it was time to go searching! Such a great way to begin the term together!

P & F Easter Raffle

The much anticipated Easter Raffle was a huge success in the final week of Term 1. The excitement grew when the Easter baskets were displayed in the Reception foyer. Students couldn't help lingering, making secret wishes as to which hamper they might like to win as they collected lunch orders each day from the office. Huge thanks to Janelle Sadri and Deanna White, our Prep Reps, for their incredible organisation of the event and creativity in creating and displaying the baskets. Thanks to all the families who purchased more than 800 tickets.  Your support of our school is very truly appreciated .

Collaborative Art Project Year 5 & Sunnyside Kinder

The Year 5 students have been outstanding ambassadors for St Roch's during the collaborative art project at Sunnyside Kindergarten. We have had so many compliments from the staff at Sunnyside about the care and attention they have given to the 4 year old's. We have some budding teachers in the Year 5 cohort! We are so grateful to Jo Boers, our Art Specialist teacher for planning and leading this wonderful opportunity which continues to build the strong relationship we have developed with Sunnyside Kinder over many years.
