Catholic Identity: St Roch’s Holy Week Re-enactment

During the last week of Term 1 and this first week of Term 2, we experienced the events of Holy Week and Easter as a whole school. This is a well loved tradition that invites students to share one of the important events with the school community as they move through the year levels from Prep - Year 6.

During the last Friday of Term 1, It was wonderful to experience the ‘journey’, beginning in our hall with the Preps sharing Palm Sunday. After that, we journeyed to St Roch’s Church where our Year 4 students shared the ‘Washing of the Feet’ and ‘The Last Supper’. We then moved to Father Gallacher’s garden where our Year 3 students shared the story of the ‘Garden of Gethsemane’. It was then a walk back onto school grounds for the ‘Stations of the Cross’ presented by our Year 5&6 students. Finally, our Year 1/2 students shared with us the joyful ‘Easter Story’.

Thank you to James Reynolds and Louis Chevaux for providing a meaningful portrayal of Jesus throughout this story. Also, thank you to Father Gallacher for reflecting on each event and helping us to reflect on what this means in our own lives.
