Principal Report

It’s been a hub of activity here at Oatlands these last few weeks, and our students have settled in well to the routines and expectations of school life. From classroom learning to extracurricular events, it’s been wonderful to see our students embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm and positivity.

Our Prep students had a wonderful 50 days of school celebration recently, the halfway mark of 100 days at school. To celebrate this milestone, they dressed in halves eg ½ school uniform & ½ pyjamas, they wore their hair in halves eg ½ up & ½ down and lunchboxes were filled with sandwiches, fruit & cakes all cut in half. There were many wonderful combinations of clothing, hairstyles, odd socks & shoes and the students had a great time counting to 50, making towers with 50 blocks and

Life Education sessions have begun for our students as part of their health education. The sessions provide students with opportunities to develop strategies and practice the skills required to make safe and healthy choices. Healthy Harold, the much-loved Life Education giraffe mascot, is always a much-anticipated element of the sessions. The sessions are always fun, interactive and really extend and develop the children’s understanding of the topics covered.

Swimming lessons have begun for students in Gr 3, 4 & 5 at Casey Arc through the Victorian Government's Swimming in Schools initiative. The lessons aim to equip students with essential swimming and water safety skills, ensuring they can safely enjoy aquatic activities throughout their lives. Our students are enjoying their time in the water, becoming capable, confident swimmers whilst helping them gain lifelong skills that promote safety, wellbeing, and a love for being active in the water.

As we continue through the term, it’s fabulous to see our students thriving across all areas of school life, and we look forward to more exciting learning experiences in the weeks ahead.
