K - Yr 6

Kindergarten

Religion

In Religion we have been learning about Jesus' Resurrection. We have listened to the story of the women at the tomb, Jesus rising from the dead and made connections between the story of Jesus' life and the life cycle of a butterfly.

English

Children doing Kung Fu Punctuation to help them learning about sentence level punctuation. We have been focusing on starting our sentences with capital letters, using finger spaces between our words and finishing our sentences with a full stop.

The children enjoyed writing about their favourite part of the story book "Jeremy".

Maths

Mrs. Bournes' maths group played "race to 20" to help build our number recognition and counting skills.

Wednesday 28th May - Geography Display

As part of our celebration of Catholic Schools Week next week, Kindergarten would like to invite you to visit our  classroom on Wednesday 28th of May from 2:30-3pm. The students have been working hard in Geography to use recycled materials to turn their maps into water parks. They would like to show you their creations and demonstrate how they can draw a map of our wonderful school. Entry through Rusden St, please sign in at the Office and come to the Kindergaatren Room.

Year One

Art Show

Students proudly showcased their creativity at the school Art Show. A particular highlight was the display of emu-inspired artworks, influenced by the delightful story Edwina the Emu. Students explored character, movement, and colour to bring Edwina’s personality to life through their illustrations.

Also on display were a series of dynamic sculptures inspired by dance movements. Students observed and interpreted different dance poses to create expressive 3D forms, capturing energy and motion in their designs.

English

In English, we have been learning about persuasive writing, exploring how to share our opinions and convince others through clear arguments and strong language.

We have also been focusing on the "ue" and "ew" sounds, and practising our tricky words: family, cousin, and father. Did you know that the word father contains the small words fat and her? It's a fun way to help remember tricky spellings!

Year 2

Religion

In Religion, we are learning about Easter, the Paschal Candle and sharing Christ's light in our daily lives. Students are putting this into action through daily prayer.

We have a lot to be grateful for. Year 2 is experiencing prayer through music and illustrations below.

Year 3

Year 3 have recently started the maths topic "two dimentional shapes" In this topic they will be describing and comparing the features of 2D shapes. We would love for our year 3 families to use the information below.

Tips for parents:

The main way a parent can add to the experience of tessellating shapes is asking gentle questions along the way. Prompts such as "I notice that you're making a pattern. What can you tell me about your pattern?" are helpful in getting children to describe their thinking. Tessellating tiles come with a deep mathematical structure. Kids notice that structure through their play. There's not really much more needed in order for children to have a productive experience playing with them.

Year 4

How to have fun while it rains

Fruit salad - yummy yummy!

Splitting two-dimensional shapes in Maths

With the help of a "special maths learning tool" (ask your child what it was!), students enjoyed combining common two-dimensional shapes, including quadrilaterals, to form other common shapes or designs.

Year 6

GRIP Leadership

Our Year 6 students attended a day of learning with students from many schools and towns.

It was an engaging day focused on developing practical leadership skills and fostering a positive mindset. The conference provided a dynamic environment for our students to connect with peers from other schools, participate in interactive workshops, and hear from inspiring speakers. This experience aimed to empower our students to take on leadership roles within our school community and beyond, equipping them with new perspectives and strategies to make a positive impact.
