Sustainability

Garden Club has been busy!

On Wednesday this week, Mrs Jones and Mr Allison were busy with the Year 4 and 5 Planet Savers. They were planting new shrubs and grasses in the garden bed next to the ramp that runs between the basketball court and the Learning Centre.  With the enthusiasm shown by the students, the job was completed in no time at all. The new plants were watered in and new mulch was added. We look forward to watching the new greenery grow!

Student Environment Leadership and Action Online Forum

At 12.30pm on Wednesday, the Year 5 and 6 Planet Savers from each class, together with our Sustainability Leaders, Dhruvan and Fiona, all met in the Learning Centre to hear from their peers from Wheelers Hill Primary School online. Schools from all around Victoria took part.

Students from Wheelers Hill described their Sustainability program and their recent journey to earning their school 5 star accreditation in Sustainability. Our Green team were pleased to hear that many of the programs that Wheelers Hill have introduced, we already do at Vermont Primary.

Our Planet Savers left the forum wanting to investigate Mondo bins (recycling bins that earn the school money), bat, possum and bird boxes and bee hotels! So watch this space!
