LOTE (Mandarin)

Dear Families,

In Mandarin class, we explored two exciting topics: numbers and Mothers and Others Day.

🎲 Numbers: Students have been building their confidence with numbers in Mandarin. Our younger learners focused on counting from 1 to 10, learning the characters 一 (1) to 十 (10) through songs, games, and writing practice. The older students extended their learning by exploring numbers up to 99, discovering number patterns and how to combine tens and units in Mandarin (e.g. 二十七 for 27). It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing fluency!

🌸 Mothers and Others Day (母亲节 – mǔ qīn jié): In preparation for Mothers and Others Day, students learned vocabulary related to family and appreciation. We practiced key words and simple phrases such as “I love my mum” (我爱妈妈 – wǒ ài māma), and explored the characters for “mother” (妈妈), “love” (爱), and “family” (家). To celebrate, students created beautiful posters using their new Mandarin vocabulary to express gratitude and care.

It’s been a joyful, creative, and language-rich week in Mandarin class!
