Literacy groups

Green class (2/3/4) have been enjoying their literacy sessions.
The class is divided into 2 groups during this time, with 'The Nerd Herd' group completing their learning with Miss Jeffs and 'The Brain Busters' working with Mrs Kroek/Mrs Scifleet.
During Grammar last week, we looked at Proper Nouns. 'The Brain Busters' looked at Proper Nouns, working together to complete a 'Proper Noun and Common Noun' sort.
Both groups have been looking at 'Fantastic Mr Fox' By Roald Dahl.
'The Brain Busters' have completed activities such as:
- sequencing events in chapters in the order they occur and matching these to the pictures that best match the text;
- completing 'word detective' activities to explore the new words we come across in the text by finding the words in the room and matching them to their meanings;
- sorting character traits about 'Mr Fox' to understand that some adjectives describe what we can see (appearance/actions) and what we can't (personality).
Both classes have been enjoying our writing unit. This unit looks at Narratives. All students have been doing a wonderful job learning about the elements of this text type, how to write them and how to make their own narratives more descriptive and detailed. We have been focusing on the planning process/story mapping, the narrative sequence and deciding on necessary elements such as the setting, characters and complication (problem).
