Wellbeing Highlight: Self care

 

What is self care? Self care is a method of self regulation used to keep yourself from being over-stimulated or burnt out. With student's busy calendars and extracurricular activities it can be easy to burn out. Self care can combat the constant “go-go” feeling and remind the body to rest and relaxing is good for the mind and  physical wellbeing. 

 

Self care do’s and don’ts

 

Do:

Do something creative

Go outdoors

Eat a healthy favourite snack

Take a warm bath or a shower

Have a dance

Have a well deserved rest and watch a favourite movie

 

Don’t:

Skip important events to do self care

Encourage negative habits as self care

Force self care

Have excessive screen time as self care

Do high stress activities as self care

 

Try something fun and relaxing as your choice of self care. Some team favourites include building Lego, making a diamond art painting, reading a good book and playing a board game.
