St. Philomena’s School Cultural Dancers
St. Philomena’s School Cultural dancers performed last week at the unveiling of the Aboriginal Tracker Wall at the Moree Police Station. Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer Rod Tighe invited the dancers to participate in this special event, which was attended by local Elders, senior NSW Police Officers and community members.
The student’s performance was a meaningful contribution to the event, honouring the history and legacy of the Aboriginal Trackers in the Moree community.

Primary AEA Retreat
The Primary Aboriginal Education Assistants Retreat was held in Tamworth on the 8th and 9th of May and was attended by 40 participants including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Assistants, Leaders of Learning, Principals and teaching staff. On Day 1 participants engaged in the Walaay Gayaa (Happy Camp) on Country experience, a tour of St Joseph’s Primary School Tamworth, hosted by AEA Kimberly Taggart and her Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, as well as an interactive Attendance and Community Engagement Workshop hosted by Leah Jones. Day 2 involved delving into the Data Ecosystem with Briony Martin and Alanna Hatch and the development and implementation of the Armidale Catholic Schools Primary Cultural Plans. Feedback from the two days has been very positive and was a great opportunity for me to introduce myself to all in attendance.
