Assistant Principal

Julie Ryan- Year 9 & 10

As we reach the midpoint of the term, I’d like to extend a thank you to all students for their thoughtful participation in the Student Attitudes to School Survey. This important survey is conducted across all secondary schools in Victoria and provides us with valuable insights into the student experience, including their learning environment, teacher-student relationships, and overall well-being. The feedback collected is entirely anonymous, allowing students to share their honest perspectives without any concerns.

At Lalor Secondary College, the data from the Student Attitudes to School Survey is a key resource in informing our improvement work. We use this data to identify strengths and areas for growth, shaping our strategic plans and guiding decisions that directly impact teaching and learning. By understanding how students perceive their school experience, we can implement targeted initiatives aimed at fostering positive relationships, increasing student engagement, and enhancing the overall learning environment. The information gathered will play a crucial role in helping us strategically plan for improvements, ensuring that our programs and initiatives align closely with the needs and experiences of our students.

There is still one more week remaining for the survey. We will run catch-up sessions to capture the feedback of as many students as possible prior to the end of the survey period.

A timely reminder regarding student laptops – it is essential that students bring their charged devices to school every day. These laptops are integral to classroom activities and learning programs and having them ready to go ensures a smoother learning experience for everyone. The IT team is also conducting regular audits to check for any damage, graffiti, or necessary repairs. If any issues are identified, families will be notified with details on the required repairs to maintain the functionality of these important learning tools.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students maximise their learning opportunities.

Warm regards,

Jules Ryan
