Year 1/2 Learning Community News

What an amazing fortnight we have! In Literacy the 1-2 learning community has been looking at reading and writing persuasive texts. Students have been looking at the author’s opinion and their reasons and how strong and emotional language can be used to persuade the audience.

In maths, we have started our measurement unit where students have been using informal and formal units. Students have been making their own meter rules, measuring objects around the classroom and tracing and measuring their own feet and arm spans.

In inquiry, we have been looking at cultural diversity and what makes us unique and individual including cultural dress, dance, food, animals and celebrations. We have linked this to our persuasive writing through looking at different places around the world and convincing our audience to visit these places.

We have also started the ‘premiers reading challenge’ and have been reading lots of books, one of our favourite's was “A Crocodile in the family”.
