Term 2, Week 3
Welcome to Term 2 in Foundation, we have all successfully settled back into the routines of school. We jumped straight back into our learning by continuing a focus on letter sounds in InitiaLit, writing using our taught sounds and exploring vocabulary using high quality picture books. See the picture above of a craft inspired by the text, 'My Two Blankets,' by Irena Kobald and Freya Blackwood, so impressive that it is going to be displayed in the EPS Art Show!
In Maths we have been exploring different ways to partition numbers up to 10. Partitioning refers to breaking numbers up into smaller parts and is a foundational skill which assists with making numbers more manageable and is a precursor to place value.
Our current Inquiry unit involves exploring our local community. We have been working on a Prep Acknowledgement of Country by paying close attention to what natural wonders we value in our school. We are also looking forward to having Victoria Police visit on Friday, an upcoming walk to Sam Merrifield library, meeting the firefighters and learning about the valuable role of St John's Ambulance service.
