Be the Light

Our Year 7 students are all participating in the “Be the Light” program at the Jewish Museum of Australia this term—an enriching educational experience designed to foster understanding, empathy, and cultural awareness.

Throughout the program, students engage with interactive exhibits, listen to personal stories of Jewish life and resilience, and take part in guided workshops that encourage thoughtful reflection on themes such as identity, inclusion, tradition, and history. The program not only complements our Humanities curriculum, but also supports the development of respectful and informed global citizens.

A highlight of the excursion was the opportunity for students to sample traditional Challah bread, offering a delicious and memorable introduction to Jewish cultural practices. The experience was made even more enjoyable by the tram journey, which added a sense of adventure and independence to the day. This excursion has been a meaningful way for our students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences in a respectful and engaging setting.
