Change of Timetable

As mentioned at the end of last term in the Weekly Wrap, throughout the year the College has some timetable day swaps to balance up the days missed across the year.

Over the next three weeks please keep an eye out for information in the HAC Chat and social media posts about the timetable day swaps. The are also listed in the Term Dates section of the Weekly Wrap.

The first of these is next week. Thursday 22nd May will be a Friday’s timetable operating on Thursday times.

Following the Open Day weekend, in Week 5 there will be two timetable swaps in the week, and another in Week 6.

Please be aware of these and assist by checking the day swap so your child is aware and remembers to wear the correct uniform for the day.

Open Day

As parents and carers are aware Open Day is on Saturday 24th May. Student allocations are nearing finalisation and students will be informed. Each year the rostering is different and based on student interest in certain areas. Unfortunately, not all students can be allocated to an area of their preference. I know students that are in this situation will be understanding and will be accepting of the section they have been allocated to. I have been approached by several students who have indicated they are happy to be placed on any section, or where help is required. This is greatly appreciated, as it assists with the rostering and placement of students.

Students and parents/carers are reminded to make contact in writing if their child is unable to be present based on extenuating circumstances, may arrive late or depart early on the actual day itself due to sporting commitments. This information is vital to assist with planning, logistics and student movements on the day. Thank you to parents/carers who have already made contact.

Year 11 Work Experience (Optional)

An optional opportunity for Year 11 students is being provided for those interested to undertake a week of work experience during week 10 of Term 2, this term. This is the same week that Country Week is occurring.

Students who are not selected and attending Country Week are able to submit an expression of interest to undertake work experience in the last week of this term. The requirements are the same as that for those that were here in Year 10.

Students:

  • Find a work experience host and provide details to the College, normally in their hometown or local area. Depending upon the location of the proposed work experience, this may need to be undertaken as private arrangement. In this instance specific communication will occur from the College with the respective student(s) and parents/carers.
  • Will not be able to reside on site at the College and will need to be responsible for their own transport arrangements to and from their work experience.

Year 11 students were addressed at lunchtime on Thursday this week regarding this opportunity. Forms were provided to interested students. These forms are to be returned no later than 12.00pm Tuesday 3rd June. This is to enable the College to undertake the required visitations and complete the necessary documentation in preparation for the work experience week. No forms will be accepted after this date and time.

If you have any queries in relation to this opportunity and/or the proposed placement, please contact Amelia Raper at the College on 9782 2100 or email  Amelia.Raper@education.wa.edu.au .

For all students not involved in work experience or Country Week a modified program/timetable will operate for the week.

Have a great weekend!
