The last couple of weeks’ weather has been delightful… too much so. We had around 25 mm of rain two weekends ago and this stimulated germination around the college farm but things are starting to look a bit dry with no follow up rains since.
This week I, along with Patrick Swallow and Rob Hodgsons attended the Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training. Whilst not a pleasant subject, suicide is something that we do need to be aware of and have structures and systems in place to deal with. Our aim will always be to establish an environment where students and staff feel comfortable and supported to speak out when they are having difficulties. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep an eye out for each other and reach out when we see they might not be travelling well. Asking “are you ok” is something that needs to happen every day. Once the question is asked, we need to be ready to listen properly to what is said.
My thanks in advance to all staff and students ahead of our annual Open Day. I am hopeful that as many families as possible can visit and see what your sons and daughters get up to at the College. Visitors to the College are always impressed with our facilities and program, but particularly with our students.
Have a great weekend.
Steve
