Term 1 Sport Wrap Up

Term 1 has been a very busy one for sport and PE, we started with WSPS swimming trials and had 29 students from grades 4-6 go through to the Northcote District Swimming carnival. Every student who competed at this event demonstrated the Wales Street values both in and out of the pool, giving their best swimming efforts and supporting team mates throughout the day. From this we had 22 students make it through to the Darebin Division comp and 8 who were then able to go on to compete in the Northern Region Carnival at Water Marc. Congratulations to all our swimmers, it was great to see you all trying your best and doing so well in the pool!

Throughout the term all students from grade 4-6 took part in an Athletics unit, culminating in our annual House Athletics day. The weather was perfect and the students all had a great day! It was amazing to watch students from all houses and year levels demonstrate their skills with confidence and big smiles! The end results were:

1st Place St David

2nd Place Clyde

3rd Place Wales

4th Place Speight

Many of the students who placed 1st in finals will have the opportunity to represent Wales Street at the Northcote District athletics in Term 3. 

Last Friday our grade 6 students participated in their first Inter-School sports gala day. Students have been training all term for either Pickleball, Basketball, Rounders or Cricket. All of our teams did a great job, demonstrating their skills and sportsmanship. 

Thank you to all the staff, parents and family members who helped out at each of these events, timing, measuring, umpiring, coaching or simply just coming along to cheer our students on!
