LIBRARY NEWS
HOLIDAY READING
With school holidays approaching fast, many students have borrowed more books than usual. They felt they would have the time to read them over the holidays because they were not travelling for the whole break.
If you are travelling, consider looking in the local Op shop or even taking some eBooks.
VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE
https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge
A reminder to all those students who want to participate in this year’s Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge to keep a list of the books that you are reading, so that you can write them on your dashboard in Term 2. I will activate all Prep to Grade 2 students plus all those who have put their names in the Library VPRC exercise book over the holidays and have Log on details for you at the beginning of Term 2. Prep to Grade 2 students will complete the challenge at school but you are welcome to add more books at home.
LAMONT BOOK FAIR
I will be hosting a Lamont Book Fair beginning in Week 2 of Term 2, with additional times on the following Saturday and concluding on the Monday afternoon of Week 3. There will be books of all sorts with prices ranging from the $5 trolley upwards. The Library gets all the benefits with this fundraiser by receiving 30% Book Commission, once total purchases go over $1500. It is also a chance to get students excited about reading and exploring new books.
Students will be able to browse the book fair and create a wish list if they desire during their Library class, and books can then be purchased online or in person. Online purchase lists are sent through to me early the next morning and I will deliver them during the day to classrooms. If any books are sold out, they should be delivered on Tuesday 5th May.
I do ask that students are accompanied by an adult when they are visiting the Book Fair.
