Year 11 Creswick Camp

Our recent Year 11 camp at Log Cabin Camp in Creswick provided students with a memorable outdoor education experience in a boutique-style setting, ideal for smaller groups. With comfortable accommodation and a diverse range of outdoor activities, students were challenged both physically and socially while developing teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills.

Students began the camp by working in groups to plan a range of night hikes. Each group presented their proposed hike to the whole cohort, explaining their ideas and considerations. Students then voted to select the most suitable hike, encouraging collaboration, decision-making, and student voice.

Throughout the day, students participated in Clip n Climb challenges (including a blindfold element to build trust and communication), soft-tip archery, and activities in the games room. The selected night hike then took place, led by our Year 11 students, providing an engaging and memorable shared experience. Following the hike, students embraced a traditional camp atmosphere by building campfires and preparing billy tea and damper.

Tuesday was filled with high-energy activities, including the zipline, milk crate stacking, and hut building. These activities encouraged resilience, problem-solving, and effective teamwork. In the evening, students ran their own activity, demonstrating initiative, organisation, and leadership.

On the final day, students challenged themselves with the Leap of Faith and the Giant Swing. These experiences pushed many beyond their comfort zones and highlighted their courage and determination.

Throughout the camp, students worked collaboratively, supported one another, and demonstrated responsibility through duty groups, assisting with the setup and pack-up of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Overall, the Log Cabin Camp experience was a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop important life skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Year 10 Psychology

In Year 10 Psychology, we are currently learning about brain plasticity. Today students created a neuron from their memory out of lollies. Educational and delicious, and all were very proud!

Year 8 Food Tech

This week in Food Tech, the Year 8 boys had a great time making their own smoothie bowls.

Along the way, we discussed the importance of adding ingredients sparingly and tasting as you go, especially when not following a set recipe. The focus was on learning how to balance flavours and make adjustments when improvising with the ingredients available.

It was fantastic to see their creativity and growing confidence in the kitchen, and best of all, they all produced delicious and healthy snacks!
