Prep E
Welcome to the start of Term 2! Our Prep students have settled in beautifully and are already showing fantastic progress across all areas of their learning.
In Mathematics, students have been working hard on their number skills. They are confidently counting forward and are becoming increasingly capable of identifying a range of shapes in their environment. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explore numbers and patterns.
In Literacy, we are seeing great improvement in letter formation. Students are taking care with their writing and are now beginning to write simple sentences independently. This is an exciting milestone, and we are very proud of their efforts and progress.
Homework has also been introduced recently, and it has been a great new addition to our learning routine. The children have shown enthusiasm and responsibility, and it is lovely to see them so excited to complete and share their work.
We look forward to a wonderful Term 2 filled with continued learning and growth

It has been a great start back for Term 2! The Preps did amazingly well at their first Cross Country last week. I am so proud of everyone for giving it a go and for how they cheered and encouraged one another along! It was a wonderful event!
The Preps have demonstrated their creativity in many different ways recently; through painting art, cutting and pasting crafts, pattern blocks and magnetic towers. We've been working on lots of special art pieces for events like Anzac Day, our upcoming Grandparents Day and Mother's Day. Thank you to our Year 6 buddies for your help with our Mother's Day crafts (Mums we hope you like them when they come home at the end of next week!)
It is very exciting to see the Preps learning to write sentences, reading books and practicing spelling words. They are doing an incredible job and I am so so proud of them! Well done everyone!

Year 1
As keen Scientists and Mathematicians, Year 1 created their own ramps and tested them with toy cars to see how to maximise the distance their car travelled when exiting the ramp.
Putting into practice their knowledge of push and pull, motion and force, creative ideas were tested. Partnerships were formed as they considered adjusting the slope and length of their ramp, comparing wheel sizes, attaching loads to the cars and even creating 'wings' to assist the car's stability and speed. Trial and error was employed, and jubilation was shared when a car extended its distance.
Year 1 Scientists also used straws, a paper cup and their artistic skills to create their own 'push and pull' puppet. 'Push' and the puppet gave a big welcome with arms outstretched, 'pull' and it drew back toward the 'body' cup.
Last week in our Year 1 classroom, we reflected on the courage and sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers. Through the story ANZAC Ted, we explored themes of bravery, remembrance, and gratitude, helping us to understand the importance of honouring those who served. We also completed a directed drawing of ANZAC Ted in Art, and the students showed wonderful focus and creativity in their work. As a class, we spoke about how we can show thankfulness and kindness in our own lives, following God’s call to care for others and remember those who have helped protect our freedoms.
We also enjoyed participating in the Cross Country run. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the students demonstrated great perseverance and encouragement for one another.
I never gave up. - Gideon
It is Cross Country. We had to run one kilometer and I came second at Cross Country. It was fun. I sprinted at the end. Mum and Dad and Beau and Alena came.
- Kai
At Cross Country I ran really fast. I ran one kilometer. - Maya
On Cross Country I ran as fast as I could. It was very hot. It was very fun. I love doing Cross Country. - Frankie
A special highlight last week was coming together as a whole school for a group photo, where we stood in the shape of “40”, marking an important milestone in our school community. It has been a joyful and meaningful week of learning, reflection, and shared experiences.

Year 2
In Year 2 Health, students are exploring what it means to work as a team, why is teamwork so important and what does a good team member look like?
In 1 Corinthians 12 it says: "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ... The eye cannot say to the hand 'I don't need you!' And the head cannot say to the feet, 'I don't need you!'...If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it."
To practice working as a team, students made balloon rockets in small groups - deciding between them who was going to play which role. There were many successful rockets made and wonderful examples of team work. Well done Year 2!
On Monday afternoon, we enjoyed the glorious sunshine and spent time with our Year 4 buddies. Students split up into three groups and rotated through three different games. Thank you Mrs O'Brien, Mrs Gittins and Miss Johnson for helping to run the games! As always, it is a blessing to watch our older students care for and support our younger ones and it remains a special time in our week.
This week, Year 2 also celebrated with Miss Johnson who has recently won two special awards with the Warrnambool Surf Club - Female Club Person of the Year and Board & Ski Person of the Year. We celebrated with cake and everyone got a turn of holding her trophy and cup. Well done Miss Johnson, our Year 2 class are so proud of you!

Year 3
The Year 3 students have been learning about ANZAC Day, developing their understanding of its significance and the values it represents, such as courage, resilience, and mateship. As part of this learning, the students enjoyed making traditional ANZAC biscuits, connecting their learning to history in a hands-on and meaningful way. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to reflect on the past while engaging in a much-loved Australian tradition.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring measurement, with a focus on understanding the difference between metres and centimetres. Students have been learning when to use each unit and developing their skills in estimating and measuring accurately. We have had lots of fun taking our learning beyond the classroom, measuring a variety of objects both inside and outside. This practical approach has helped students build confidence and deepen their understanding of length in a real-world context.
We were also incredibly proud of our Year 3 students during the recent Cross Countryevent. They showed outstanding effort, persistence, and resilience as they challenged themselves and kept going, even when it felt tough. It was wonderful to see so many students demonstrating a positive attitude, encouraging one another, and finishing with a strong sense of achievement.

Year 4
It has been a fantastic start to the term, with a busy and engaging first two weeks of learning. In Mathematics, students have been exploring perimeter and building their understanding of multiples through a range of hands-on and interactive activities. They particularly enjoyed taking their learning outdoors, using trundle wheels to measure distances and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
Students also represented our school wonderfully at the recent Cross Country event, demonstrating great determination and effort - well done to all who participated.
In the classroom, we have begun exploring significant topics in war history, sparking thoughtful discussions and curiosity. In English, students have also started their novel studies, and we look forward to seeing their comprehension and analytical skills develop throughout the unit.

Year 5
Year 5 really enjoyed competing in the Cross Country last week. We cheered on other classes and we competed well. We had a lot of fun while we waited for our turn. We also went out to watch the Year 12s compete in their costumes. It is always a really good day.

In Food Technology, our Year 6 students baked delicious cupcakes and had a great time decorating them with icing. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they added their own personal touches. Well done Year 6!
