STUDENT LEADERSHIP DAY

A Celebration of Learning, Leadership and Connection

On Monday 23 March, our Student Leaders came together for an inspiring and energetic Student Leadership Day, and what a success it was. The day was filled with learning, collaboration, and plenty of fun, highlighting the incredible potential of our young leaders when they work together with a shared purpose.

The day began in the PAC with a student-led leadership workshop facilitated by our School Captains. This session set the tone for the day, encouraging students to reflect on what it truly means to lead. A common theme that emerged was that leadership is not about being the loudest or most dominant voice, but about supporting others, building trust, and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed. Students recognised the importance of empathy, communication, and leading alongside others rather than above them.

Following the workshop, students moved to the oval where they took part in a high-energy Mini Olympics run by Corporate Challenge Events. This provided the perfect opportunity for leaders to put their learning into action—working in teams, solving problems, and supporting one another through a range of engaging challenges.

A highlight of the day was the involvement of approximately 75 primary school students from neighbouring schools. Our Student Leaders rose to the occasion, acting as positive role models and mentors. They demonstrated inclusivity and encouragement, ensuring that every younger student felt welcomed, supported, and confident to participate. It was fantastic to see connections being formed and our leaders stepping up to guide and inspire others.

Throughout the day, students reflected on the idea that effective leadership is grounded in teamwork, respect, and a genuine focus on the growth and wellbeing of others. Many students spoke about the importance of building trust, communicating thoughtfully, and ensuring everyone feels included—valuable lessons that will extend well beyond this single day.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the primary school students who joined us and contributed so positively to the experience. Your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved helped make the day even more special.

Most importantly, we congratulate our Student Leaders for the way they embraced every aspect of the day. They demonstrated maturity, collaboration, and a commitment to learning and leading together. We are excited to see how they continue to grow in their roles throughout the year, making a lasting and positive impact on our school community.

A big thanks to Mr Fanning (Transition & Pathways Leader), Britt O’Regan, Peta Makie and Ben Johnson for their help on the day, as well as our outstanding School Captains – Prahlad, Ruby, Elly and Ruby. We’re excited to see what our Student Leadership Team achieves this year.

STAFF V STUDENTS VOLLEYBALL

Teachers reign supreme!!!

The staff served up a dominant display on the volleyball court, with the Year 12s unable to return the favour! In front of a packed gym, the crowd was treated to big spikes, clever sets and plenty of laughs as teachers dug deep and blocked any hopes of a student upset.

With energy high and bragging rights on the line, the staff kept their cool and rallied to a convincing win—leaving the Year 12s well and truly schooled!

Stay tuned for the next showdown in Term 2, as staff take on students in netball. After this performance, the teachers will be confident—but the students will be keen to even the score!
