Principal's Report

Term 1 Focus – Building a new future
Term 1 has once again been filled to the brim with activity and excellence across our school community. From Year 7 and Year 12 camps, swimming sports and NAPLAN, through to Open Night, music performances, the introduction of our Basketball academy program and the many learning opportunities in between, it has been a term that has showcased the very best of Belmont High School. And, just like every year, amidst the busyness, our core work of high-quality teaching and learning has remained at the centre of everything we do.
Alongside this, we are beginning to see real and exciting progress in our major building project. What has long been a vision is now quite literally taking shape, with significant works underway that will transform the landscape of our school. As the build continues throughout the year, we are starting to get a clearer sense of the opportunities this new space will provide for our students and staff. With completion set for November, this project represents a significant investment in the future of Belmont High School and will play a key role in supporting the next chapter of our growth.
As we move into the holidays, I hope our families get to enjoy the Easter break and we look forward to launching back into term 2 on our return.

Students of the Month
At Belmont High School, we are excited to celebrate success with our “Student of the Month” award, a regular opportunity to celebrate students who consistently go above and beyond in their approach to learning.
Using student reports as a starting point, teachers nominate individuals who best reflect the following criteria:
- Consistent effort and application in class and a strong work ethic across their studies.
- A positive attitude towards learning, their peers, and the school community.
- Preparedness for learning, including correct uniform, the right materials, and staying focused during class.
- Emerging leadership qualities shown in the classroom setting.
- Strong academic achievement or noticeable growth in their learning over time.
Our STOM for February are highlighted below and will be recognised at our whole school assembly.
2026 Victorian State Schools Spectacular Orchestra
We are incredibly proud to recognise the outstanding achievement of William Gladman and Angus Moffatt, who have both been selected to perform in the 2026 Victorian State Schools Spectacular Orchestra. This is a significant honour and a testament to the dedication, talent and commitment both boys consistently show in their music.
As Year 9 students, William and Angus have embraced every opportunity to develop their craft, and their selection into this prestigious ensemble places them among the very best young musicians across the state. They will take to the stage at John Cain Arena on the 29th of August as part of this world-class production.
What makes this achievement even more special is the manner in which they go about their pursuits. Both boys bring a genuine enthusiasm to their music, always with a smile on their faces, and embody the spirit of striving for their highest that we value so highly at Belmont High School.
Congratulations to William and Angus on this fantastic accomplishment—we look forward to seeing them represent our school on such a significant stage.
