Learning, growing and celebrating together...

Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,

Welcome back to Term Two. I hope that all families were able to enjoy some special Easter festivities and a relaxing and fun holiday break. It’s fantastic to have everyone back together again. We look forward to a busy Term Two ahead.

On Wednesday morning our Year Three children and teachers provided us with a truly special moment, as they presented our Easter paraliturgy. I am sure everyone who witnessed this occasion would agree that the spirit of the Easter season was alive and well, as our Year Three children led us through song, scripture and prayer. They reminded us all of the miracle of Easter, as Jesus rose from the dead, rejoining his friends and followers, just as he had foretold. It was a special presentation and conclusion of our Holy Week and Easter paraliturgies. Well done to all children and teachers who were involved in retelling these important events in Jesus’ life and how they continue to shape our lives today.

Tomorrow we pause for ANZAC Day as we remember all the men and women who have given their lives in wars and conflicts over the years, protecting us and our country, allowing us the many freedoms we enjoy today. Each year, we recall stories of mateship and sacrifice and celebrate the values of respect, responsibility, teamwork, compassion and resilience. We also remember those men and women who are still in other countries, trying to make people’s lives safer around the world, each and every day. As we commemorate ANZAC Day this year, this might involve attending a Dawn or Commemorative Service, a Veteran’s March, or another ANZAC Day event. Or it might just be simply finding a moment within the day to pause and remember those who have given their lives so we may live in peace today.

Tomorrow morning, Sacred Heart Kew will be represented by some of our Senior school children who will attend and lay a wreath on behalf of the school at the Kew ANZAC Day Dawn Service. This year, this event will be hosted by the ‘Friends of Kew RSL in conjunction with Trinity Grammar School’ and will be held at Trinity Grammar School - atrium outside the Tudor Centre (entry via Charles Street - south of Wellington Street intersection). Please arrive at 5.45am for a 6am start. There will be a Gunfire breakfast that follows the Dawn Service. Thank you to our families who will be present on behalf of all the Sacred Heart Kew community tomorrow morning and a special thank you to our Year Four children and teachers for leading us this afternoon, in a solemn and moving observation for ANZAC Day.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend and term ahead.

Kind Regards,

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
