Week 1, Term 1

🍎 Welcome Back!

Welcome back to another exciting year in Grades Three and Four! We hope you had a relaxing and restful break and enjoyed time together as a family. A warm welcome to our new students Archie in 3A and Alexander in 3B.

Teachers in our level for 2026 are,

-Mel Lambden (Mon-Thur) and Carly Pike (Fri) in 3A,

-Sasha Guy in 3B,

-Kylie Sledge in 3/4C,

-Liz Hayes (Mon - Wed) and Natasha Robb (Thur - Fri) in 4A and

-Clare Collins in 4B.

We are all looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth and connection. Please know we are here to work in partnership with you to support your child as they continue to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

🚪Classroom Entry Expectations

The first day of school is Wednesday 28th January. Parents are welcome to come into the classroom briefly to help settle their child; however, we kindly ask that goodbyes are kept short so teachers can begin the school day smoothly. Please ensure students bring their named school supplies in the orange bag so these can be organised and prepared for the year ahead. With the beginning of the term being very warm, please ensure your child has a filled water bottle and a school sun smart hat each day. Please don’t forget to pack your child’s art smock and library bags to support our specialist classes. We also warmly welcome any donations of tissues and wipes.

📱iPads

Please do not send your child to school with their iPad on the first day. Students will first complete their iPad agreements, and families will be required to sign an Acceptable Use Agreement before iPads can be used in the classroom. This process will take place during the first few weeks of term, and we will let you know when students should begin bringing their fully charged iPads and headphones to school.

📝 Curriculum

During the first two weeks of term, students will focus on settling in and learning classroom routines, school expectations and our shared culture. We will spend time learning our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) expectations. This includes things like greeting each other in the morning, lining up calmly, playing safely outside, showing kindness to others and developing the habits that help us to “Be Kind, Be Safe, Be a Learner.” As they get to know new classmates, students will take part in social games and activities designed to build positive connections with their peers. Taking time to establish these routines and relationships helps set the foundation for a smooth and successful year ahead.

🌎 CBL: Community

Our Big Idea for this term is Community. Feeling part of a community is essential for children to feel safe, settled, and ready to learn. Students will explore this concept in the following ways:

Guiding Questions

  • What is a community and what brings them together?
  • Why do people connect in groups and join communities?
  • What can I contribute to a community and how do I benefit from belonging?

They will consider the Essential Question, What things build and strengthen communities?

Finally, we will work towards our term Challenge, Connect with the young people within our community.
