Prep/1/2 Mainstream

F/1
We have had a great start to the school year with our Foundation students braving a new stage in their education and our Year One students setting a positive example and showing excellent leadership skills.
We have been settling into our new classrooms by learning the expectations for the school day, including routines and the structure of the day. We have been practising to:
- Raise our hand if we want to say something
- Listening when it is someone else’s turn to speak
- Following the teacher’s instructions straight away, and being in the right place at the right time
- Keeping our hands and feet to ourselves
- Keeping ourselves and each other safe
Students have loved exploring the school and trying specialist subjects, which include Art, LOTE, STEM, PE and Music.
Here are some thoughts from our students:
What do you like best about school so far?
“Everything!” (Luca, Foundation Student, F/1B)
“I like STEM” Indi, F/1A
“I like PE” Teddy F/1A
“I like seeing the chickens” Colin F/1A
“I like playing outside at lunch” Sunday F/1A

“I liked playing games in PE” Jack F/1A

The 1/ 2 mainstream class has had a great start to the year! We have been getting to know each other and our new routines, setting up our classrooms with birthday graphs, learning about zones of regulation, unpacking seeds in writing, thinking about our thinking in reading (metacognition) and co-creating our classroom mantras. Everyone is really happy to be back at school - YAY!
Here’s what some of our students have said about being back at school:
‘It’s fun being back at school because you get to play with your friends and do interesting stuff.’ (Edie and Nour)
‘It’s nice to be at school when it’s sunny, Summer is a great season to be at school. You can play outside and especially Ga Ga ball.’ (Sitara and Nattai)
‘It’s great because you get to learn new things and be with your friends.’ (Tegan)
