STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS 

It has been a wonderful start to Term 3, with our students recognised for their leadership, vocational excellence, and sporting achievement across a range of external awards and competitions. 

Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award 

Congratulations to two of our Year 12 students, Serine S and Afra A, who have been selected as finalists for Zonta's 2026 Young Women in Leadership Award. Having submitted a written application, they are now required to attend an interview. The 2026 winner will be announced at the Awards Dinner on the evening of Tuesday, 1 September. 

Rotary Youth Vocational Award 

Congratulations to the following students who have been nominated for a Rotary Youth Vocational Award:

•  Ornisha A, Information and Digital Technology 

Regional Athletics Carnival 

Congratulations to Olivia F in Year 8 for attending the Regional Athletics Carnival and placing 2nd in the U13's Shot Put event! Olivia will be advancing to the CHS Carnival in September. We wish her the very best of luck. 

ACADEMIC UPDATE 

NAPLAN Growth Analysis (2023–2026) 

Growth is tracked using the proficiency rate: the share of students achieving Strong or Exceeding, NAPLAN's headline benchmark. The bottom band, Needs Additional Support, is used as our equity check. The figures below cover Reading, Writing and Numeracy for Year 7 (2023–2025) and Year 9 (2023–2026). 

Year 7 Proficiency Rate (% of students, Strong + Exceeding)

• Writing is the standout improver: proficiency climbed from 63% to 75%, with the share of students exceeding expectations nearly doubling. Consistent, genuine growth. 
• Reading held steady in the high 60s, with a strong base and more students moving into the Exceeding band. 
• Numeracy is the area of focus: proficiency has stayed essentially flat in the mid-50s, and it is the domain with the most students in the Needs Additional Support band. 

• Numeracy is the genuine success story: a sustained climb from 46% to 59% proficiency, a 12-point gain and the best trajectory of any domain. The share needing additional support did rise before easing back, so the gains have come mostly at the top of the cohort. 
• Reading has moved within a stable high-50s band without a clear upward or downward trend. 
• Writing improved sharply in 2026 after a dip through 2025. This is a promising result, though the size of the jump means the figure is being verified before it is reported more broadly. 

Bottom Line 

• Numeracy is our snapshot weakness, with the lowest proficiency and heaviest tail at both year levels, but it also shows the strongest year-on-year improvement. Our support is targeted at the 12–15% of students in the Needs Additional Support band. 
• Writing is the brightest spot in Year 7 and a promising rebound story in Year 9, though we are confirming the 2026 Year 9 figure before it is shared more widely. 
• Reading is stable and solid across both year groups: no cause for concern, but also an area where we are looking for more momentum. 

Year 12 Trials and Revision 

Year 12 Trial examinations went smoothly. Students are now in a period of completing all syllabus dot points and undertaking intense revision. Attendance is crucial during this time to ensure students do not miss out on valuable learning time.

The Parent Community Charter is a framework that outlines the principles, roles, and responsibilities for parents, carers, and community members in supporting student learning and wellbeing in NSW schools. It aims to foster positive partnerships between families, schools, and communities to enhance educational outcomes for students. 

In general, the Parent Community Charter emphasises: 

• Respectful and collaborative relationships between parents, carers, school staff, and students. 
• Open and timely communication to support student learning and wellbeing. 
• Participation in school activities and decision-making processes. 
• Support for inclusive and safe learning environments. 
• Recognition of the important role families and communities play in education.
