Bullying No Way Week - 17 – 21 August 2026
Each week on Tuesday, students participate in Home Group lessons to support their learning and wellbeing. In Week 2, the focus was on study skills and organisation as we want everyone to have a successful start to semester 2. Week 5 was Bullying No Way Week, so we all participated in Kids Helpline’s largest antibullying lesson, learning as a community how it is important for all of us to Pause and Choose before we Act.
In our school and communities, our goal is to build environments where everyone belongs, diversity is celebrated and bullying is never accepted. Parents and carers can learn more about what is bullying and how to respond on this link Webinar | How to support your child if they're being bullied
Attendance really does matter!
To recognise students with excellent attendance (95% and above) we had a movie incursion at the end of term 2. Each fortnight, students with 10 days perfect attendance go in a draw to win an Attendance Award and a $20 voucher. Ms Iemma was delighted to present Sumera in Year 7 with her prize!
Parents can check their daughters’ attendance on SENTRAL (the same place reports are published). Call the school office if you need help to access SENTRAL.

Year 7 Vaccinations – Thursday 3 September
Nurses from NSW Health will be here to vaccinate Year 7 students (and catch up with any Year 10 students who missed out). Parents can learn more about the program and give consent online at the following link: School Vaccination Program (translated consent materials)
Year 7, 2027 Transition to High School
We are pleased to announce the Student Advisers for year 7, 2027 – Mr Wu and Ms Zhang. Their first task was to accompany a group of articulate and enthusiastic year 7 students to Hampden Park Primary School to support their Transition to High School program. The students were very excited to share their experiences and answer questions for our future students.
Please remember, parents can phone or email the school at any time and ask for your daughter’s Student Adviser to discuss any concerns or issues that may impact on wellbeing, attendance or learning. When parents and teachers team up together, students get the support they need to reach their full potential and Be Somebody.

Student Support Officers School Newsletter
At our school we understand that students do their best learning when they feel heard, acknowledged and connected. We are pleased that at BHGHS we have two dedicated roles, the Student Support Officers, Laura Turner (Mondays and Thursdays) and Daniela Monasterio (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays). They work collaboratively to give students the best support and mentorship in social and emotional wellbeing to encourage an enjoyable and successful experience through their educational journey.
The SSO roles consist of running programs, workshops and school events on various educational and wellbeing topics, as well as organising external peak organisations to run specialised workshops. The SSO’s role also includes having caring conversations to understand what is limiting a student’s ability to thrive to their full potential and offering the appropriate tools and introducing new strategies to manage worries or challenges.
Term 3 Student Support Officer initiatives: Seniors’ Art Studio runs on Mondays during Period 4, providing students with an opportunity to explore different art and meditation practices during their free period. The program was developed to encourage students to engage in creative and mindful activities that support relaxation, reduce stress, and provide practical strategies for managing feelings of overwhelm.
Proud To Be Me is a program for a group of year 7 students that gives them the space to create art that encourages them to reflect on their experiences of the many changes they encounter transitioning from primary school to high school.
My Story, My Way is a five-week program held on Tuesdays for a group of Year 8 students. The program encourages students to explore their values, friendships and personal goals through journaling. Each week focuses on a different theme, providing students with practical tools, strategies and insights to support the development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
