Year 12 Textiles and Design – Major Textiles Projects Complete!

 

Monday 17 August marked an important milestone for our Year 12 Textiles and Design students as they completed and packaged their Major Textiles Projects and supporting portfolios for their HSC.

 

Room 25 was a hive of activity throughout the day, with students working tirelessly to put the finishing touches on their projects. After months of planning, designing, experimenting, problem-solving and construction, the final day provided an opportunity to refine every last detail, complete portfolio documentation and carefully prepare each project for submission.

 

The Major Textiles Project is a significant undertaking and represents 50% of the students’ HSC Textiles and Design mark. Each project demonstrates not only practical textile skills, but also the ability to develop and communicate a design concept, investigate appropriate materials and techniques, manage an extensive design and production process, and critically evaluate the finished product.

The quality of this year’s work is something our students should be extremely proud of. Their projects showcase an impressive level ofcreativity, individuality, technical skill and attention to detail. Each finished piece reflects the student’s own ideas and design direction, as well as the many hours of persistence and commitment required to transform an initial concept into a completed textile item.

 

The accompanying portfolios tell the story behind each creation, documenting the development of ideas, experimentation, decision-making, production processes and evaluation that occurred throughout the project. Together, the practical items and portfolios demonstrate just how much our students have developed as designers and makers.

 

Reaching submission day is always a mixture of excitement, relief and pride. For our Year 12 students, it represents the culmination of months of hard work and one of the major achievements of their HSC year.

 

We are incredibly proud of what our Year 12 Textiles and Design students have achieved.Their dedication, resilience and creativity have been evident throughout the entire process, particularly in the final push to have everything completed and packaged by the end of the day.

 

We congratulate all of our students on reaching this significant milestone and wish them every success as their Major Textiles Projects are assessed for the HSC.
