Year 11 News
As we come to the end of Term 3, it is hard to believe just how quickly the year has passed. Our Year 11 students have continued to demonstrate the determination that has made this cohort such a wonderful part of the Beverly Hills Girls High School community.
A significant milestone is fast approaching, with the Year 11 Final Preliminary Examinations taking place during Weeks 8 and 9. These examinations provide students with an important opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout their Preliminary courses, while also preparing them for the demands of the HSC year.
Students are encouraged to use the coming weeks wisely by revising consistently, seeking assistance from their teachers, completing outstanding work and developing effective study routines. The final Preliminary examinations are an important steppingstone towards Year 12, and we encourage all students to approach them with confidence and a commitment to doing their very best.
We would also like to acknowledge our Year 11 students who have undertaken Work Placement in Hospitality and Business Services this term. A special shout-out goes to Jayda Abdullah and Charlotte Pentecost, who have represented themselves and Beverly Hills Girls High School exceptionally well during their placements. Their professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are wonderful examples of the qualities we hope to see in all of our students as they prepare for life beyond school.
This term also saw the Senior Executive Officer voting, providing students with the opportunity to nominate and elect their peers to important leadership positions within the school.
Congratulations to all of the students who were successful in securing a Senior Executive Officer position. We look forward to seeing the positive contribution you make to the school in your leadership roles. We would also like to acknowledge every student who nominated. Putting yourself forward for leadership takes courage, confidence and a willingness to contribute to the school community, and that in itself should be celebrated.
Perhaps the biggest milestone on the horizon is the beginning of the HSC course next term. Year 11 students are now moving towards the final year of their schooling, and with that comes greater responsibility, independence and focus.
The HSC year will undoubtedly bring challenges, but it will also bring many opportunities for students to demonstrate how much they have grown academically and personally. We encourage students to begin preparing now by establishing positive study habits, organising their assessment schedules, keeping up with coursework and making the most of the support available to them at school.
As we approach the completion of the Preliminary courses, we would also like to remind students that regular attendance is vital. Attendance is not simply about being present at school; it is essential to ensuring students have sufficient opportunities to engage with learning, develop the required skills and successfully meet the outcomes of their Preliminary courses.
We encourage all students to continue to prioritise their attendance and, where necessary, work towards improving it. Every lesson contributes to their learning, and consistent engagement will place students in the strongest possible position as they commence their HSC courses next term.
And finally…
It is almost impossible to believe that it has been nearly five years since these tiny little Year 7 students first walked through the gates on Broadarrow Road.
Now, as Year 11 students preparing to embark on their HSC year, we see a cohort of amazing young women who have grown in confidence, independence and maturity.
We could not be prouder of how far they have come.
Well done, Year 11. Finish the Preliminary year strongly, embrace the challenges ahead and remember just how far you have already come.
