Year 8 News

The Year 8 Student Advisors would like to warmly welcome all students back for the new semester. Semester 1 was a busy and rewarding time for our Year 8 students, and we are excited to continue supporting year 8 and their achievements this semester.

We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the students who took part in our Multicultural Day last term. Students had the opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures represented within our school community. Many of our incredibly talented Year 8 students performed, sharing aspects of their culture with their peers and creating a wonderful atmosphere of celebration and connection of our diverse school community.

Students also took part in the Learning Matters Learning Olympics, working in teams to solve a variety of logic problems. The competition encouraged students to communicate, think creatively and work collaboratively as they tackled challenging problems together.

Our Learning Olympics also included the judging of the doghouse competition. Students worked over the course of the term to plan and construct a scale model of a doghouse.

The activity provided an engaging way for students to apply their numeracy and problem-solving skills in a practical context. Students needed to consider measurements, scale, design and construction as they planned and executed their models. The dog houses were judged by the Deputy Principal and Year 8 Student Advisors. It was fantastic to see the creativity, effort and attention to detail students put into their designs.

We thank all Year 8 students for their participation in these events. They continue to make our school a more vibrant and diverse community.
