VCE Awards Assembly – Celebrating Effort and Achievement
On Wednesday 25 June, we held a special awards assembly to recognise the efforts and achievements of our Year 11 and 12 VCE students. Congratulations to all students who received awards, and to those who have worked exceptionally hard throughout the semester. While not everyone could receive an award, the selection process was extremely competitive and we commend the dedication of all students.
Awards were presented to:
- Three students with 100% attendance for Semester One
- Three students with the highest number of green positive entries on COMPASS, reflecting their consistent demonstration of our school values: Community, Ownership and Growth
- Two Personal Learning Awards for students who are always prepared to learn—arriving on time, equipped, engaged in class and completing homework
- Academic Awards to the top-performing student in each subject
- Growth Awards to students who have demonstrated significant improvement in their learning across the semester
We are proud of the commitment and progress shown by our senior students and look forward to continued success in Semester Two.
VCE Theatre Studies Excursion - Super at Red Stitch Theatre
On the 19th of June, the VCE Theatre Studies class set off on a city excursion to see Super, a bold and thought-provoking production staged at Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre, written by Emilie Collyer and directed by Emma Valente. The play dives into the world of superheroes and superpowers through a feminist lens, unpacking themes of identity, friendship, and the emotional weight of power. Super follows three striking characters, Nel, Phoenix and Rae, as they attempt to use their abilities to help others.
The day began with a train ride to Windsor Station, where students had some free time to grab lunch. Some went op-shopping, while others stopped by a café on Chapel Street called Elfie. It was a relaxed moment to recharge and prepare for the performance ahead.
Red Stitch, known for its intimate setting and contemporary Australian work, provided the perfect backdrop for such a powerful production. The students were drawn in almost immediately, especially intrigued by the unexpected and creative set design.
To everyone’s surprise, the show was followed by a post-performance Q&A. Theatre Studies students from other schools joined in for an engaging conversation with the Super creative team, including the playwright, two of the lead actors and the stage manager. Students asked thoughtful questions about the creative process, character development, Production Roles and the real-life inspiration behind the show’s emotional depth. The session offered valuable insight into how the team worked together to bring such a unique story to life on a small stage.
On the train ride back to Frankston, students continued reflecting on the production. Many discussed the themes, characters and theatrical techniques - linking elements of the show to their upcoming SAC. The excursion was not only educational but deeply inspiring, reminding students just how impactful live theatre can be.

Staff versus Students Volleyball
The highly anticipated Staff vs Student volleyball match lived up to the hype, delivering an exciting contest that had the entire school buzzing. In front of a lively crowd, the staff team showcased their experience and teamwork to take out the match in straight sets - but not without a fierce challenge from the student side.
Both sets followed a similar pattern: the staff surged to early leads with composed serving, tight defence, and strong communication across the court. Led by a strategic rotation and smart ball placement, they built commanding advantages in the opening stages of each set.
But the students were far from outclassed. Towering Year 12 student Jayden Patterson was a dominant presence at the net, disrupting plays and blocking with confidence. Fellow student Demitri Samuelu unleashed a series of forceful spikes that had the crowd on their feet, helping fuel a determined comeback effort in both sets.
Despite their efforts, the students were unable to overturn the early deficits. The staff team held their nerve under pressure, using their structure and consistency to edge out close finishes in both sets, securing a 2–0 victory.
The win sees the overall Staff vs Student competition locked at 4-4 heading into the Term 2 school holidays - with plenty still to play for in the second half of the year.
