Non Fiction Texts

Over the past couple of weeks we have focused on non-fiction texts. We have talked about the features of a non-fiction text including the contents page, glossary, index, photos, labels, maps, facts and information. We have been looking at the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts. We have also been learning how to write a report and we chose our own animal to write an Information Report about it. Here are some of the reports:

National Simultaneous Storytime

Last Wednesday we had Celeste from the Mornington Peninsula Libraries come to visit us and read the lovely picture story book 'The Truck Cat'. This book was chosen for the 2025 National Simultaneous Storytime session. Our Prep - 3 students were a part of over 2 million children who read the story on the same day at the same time! They made paper plate cat faces to go with the story. We also followed ArtHub for Kids instructions to draw a truck rig.

Sounds Write

Prep students have been learning the sounds for the letters 'k, l, r and u'. They have been building words from these letters and are learning how to correctly form the letters to write them. We have also been learning to write and read 'high frequency' words and simple sentences.
