Learning and Curriculum Primary - Stage 3

Reports

Semester 1 Reports will be made available via the TASS Parent Portal later this term. This report captures important pastoral and academic information about your son’s progress thus far.

The Common Grade Scale shown below is used to report student achievement in primary years in all NSW schools. The Common Grade Scale describes performance at each of the five grade levels.

A large focus throughout this semester has been on teacher feedback in class and through assessments. Assessment tasks are used to inform overall grades along with teacher professional judgement as part of student learning to track and monitor student progress. It is timely to reflect on assessment tasks that have gone home as we edge closer to Semester 1 Reports being made available. Further information can be found here.

WriteOn 2025

Students in Years 5 and 6 are invited to participate in the WriteOn 2025 competition. This is a writing competition run by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). This year’s text type is imaginative, and the stimulus quote can be found below.

Suggestions for imaginative texts for WriteOn 2025 may include:

  • diary or journal entries from an imaginary character

  • short prose fictional narratives (e.g., a short fantasy or adventure story)

  • character explorations

  • poetry.

The imaginative text chosen should relate to the stimulus and include intentional choices with appropriate text structures, features, and language to engage the audience. Entries can be up to 500 words and must be emailed to Mrs Tatola by Monday 16 June. One entry from Stage 3 will be submitted to WriteOn 2025.

6 Red Class Spotlight

The students of 6 Red have had a busy first half of the term, working on their entries for the Whitlam Institute ‘What Matters’ writing competition, building catapults to test physical forces in science, and learning about the synoptic gospels in Religious Education.

For their writing entries, students selected topics such as war, global peace, and grief. When reflecting on the synoptic gospels, the students stated that these gospels retell the story of Jesus from three different perspectives – Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Finally, some of the wonderful catapults can be seen on display in the images below.
