Principal Team's Message
Nurture. Innovate. Celebrate.
Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,
Respectful and Supportive Community at Maramba Primary School
At Maramba Primary School, we are committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful and empathetic community culture. We believe when parents, carers and staff work together with shared values and mutual respect, we create a positive environment where every child can learn and grow.
As members of the Maramba school community, we each share the responsibility to model positive behaviour. It is important that all interactions between adults and with students reflect respect, kindness, patience and understanding.
The Department of Education has outlined clear expectations for the behaviour of parents, carers and other adults within all Victorian school communities - https://www.vic.gov.au/respectful-behaviours-within-school-community-policy. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults.
These expectations apply to all school-related settings. This includes the school grounds, excursions, camps, sporting events, outdoor activities and online learning. They also apply to communication through phone calls, emails, ClassDojo, Compass, messaging groups such as WhatsApp, and social media platforms.
We kindly ask all members of our school community to demonstrate respectful, thoughtful and supportive behaviour at all times. Together, we can continue to make Maramba Primary School a place where everyone feels valued, respected and safe. Thank you for your continued support.
Student Spotlight - Madison and Nika
Celebrating Our Community Engagement Leaders
At Maramba Primary School, we are incredibly proud of our student leaders—young ambassadors who truly reflect our school’s values and vision. Their initiative, dedication, and leadership enrich our community and inspire others to get involved. We believe these students are not just leading today, they are shaping tomorrow.
Today, we are shining the spotlight on two outstanding Community Engagement Leaders: Madison and Nika. These students play a key role in representing Maramba to the wider community and embody what it means to lead with heart and purpose. Here’s what they had to share:
Question: What does it mean to be a Community Engagement Leader?
Madison: For me it is about promoting all the wonderful things that are part of Maramba Primary School with the larger community and putting a good word out for the school.
Nika: For example, our school has amazing play areas, outstanding specialist programs such as Performing Arts and PE, and many opportunities to learn. How is anyone supposed to know about these wonderful things unless we share it with our family and friends?
Question: What are your top two favourite things about Maramba?
Madison: Teachers make learning fun and everyone enjoys their time in the class.
Nika: Knowing everyone at the school and being friends with a lot of them.
Question: What have been your favourite recent experiences at Maramba?
Madison: To be a part of the Shrek production!
Nika: Probably my favourite experience was winning cross country twice.
Question: What advice would you give to an aspiring leader?
Madison: Be confident and believe in yourself.
Nika: Be kind to others!
Madison and Nika exemplify the spirit of leadership we celebrate at Maramba. Through their actions, they help ensure every student feels seen, supported, and proud to be part of our school community. We can’t wait to see the continued impact they will make this year!
Cross Country
On Wednesday, 28th May, Maramba Primary School had three students representing our school at the Divisional Cross Country held at Toomuc Recreation Reserve in Pakenham.
Eve N was in the age 9/10 girls race over 2 kms along with Zain N and Iggy V competing in the 11year-old boys over 3 kms.
All students produced fantastic efforts with Eve qualifying for the Southern Regional by finishing 2nd, Zain finishing 23rd and Iggy finishing 27th. Congratulations to each of you and thank you to those who were able to bring the students to the event on the day.
Reconciliation Week – Bridging Now to Next
Last week, Maramba Primary School observed National Reconciliation Week (May 27 – June 3), embracing the 2025 theme: “Bridging Now to Next.” This theme encourages all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and cultures while looking forward to a more unified future.
Throughout the week, students engaged in various activities to deepen their understanding of reconciliation:
The song is a call for reconciliation and a recognition of the traditional custodianship of the land. It resonated strongly with audiences and became a significant piece of music in the fight for Indigenous rights. “Solid Rock” is often cited as one of the first songs to broach the subject of Aboriginal rights in Australian rock music and had a lasting impact on the Australian psyche.
We are proud of our students' thoughtful participation and thank our staff for facilitating meaningful learning experiences during this important week.
Foundation Transition sessions
As part of building stronger connections with our local kindergarten, our school leaders have been visiting Maramba Kindergarten every Wednesday to read stories and play games with the children.
This transition initiative helps to create a sense of familiarity and belonging for our future Foundation students. By developing early relationships with our school leaders and engaging in fun, supportive interactions, the children begin to feel more confident and excited about starting school.
These weekly visits are a meaningful way to ease the transition into primary school and foster a positive connection between Maramba Primary School and Maramba Kindergarten.
Parent Teacher Interviews - Term 3
Parent Teacher Interviews will take place in Week 1, on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd July, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
We encourage all parents and carers to book a 10-minute interview with their child’s teacher. This is an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and set goals for Semester 2.
Please book via COMPASS. If you have any questions or need help booking an interview, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
