School Board 29 May Meeting Summary

The Board meeting featured presentations by Cassie Ludowyk and Lachlan Silberstein, who introduced the new CORE Values program. This initiative is designed to foster community, house culture, wellbeing, and career readiness. Utilising principles of positive psychology, the program aims to enhance student wellbeing across several domains defined by PERMAH (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Accomplishment, and Health). The primary objective of the program is to ensure that each student has a dedicated teacher who advocates for them throughout their high school journey. The CORE Values are integrated with the CORE Camp, which encourages participation from a larger number of students.

The Board received financial updates detailing fund allocations and the responsibilities of various leadership team members to keep the funding on track. The P&C presented several projects that have recently received funding for improvements around the school.

The Principal provided an update on discussions with Department officials and the architects regarding planning for new school buildings based on projected student enrolment. The Board has been meeting with Kim Giddens MLA to ensure that the quality of the school environment and educational programs will be adequately catered for in the future building program. The Board notes that the rate of enrolment increases commenced in 2018, prior to COVID-19, and has continued. The Board is concerned about the proposed timing and capacity, as plans may deliver a capacity solution after the capacity is already achieved, without providing a long term solution.
