Hospitality Taster Programme
Do you know that there is a programme on Hospitality Taster at the College? This programme is run for a semester, and is designed to provide students the chance to explore career options or gain basic skills for entry-level employment within a restaurant or café. Students gain an insights into the industry and safely develop and master their practical skills in our simulated industry kitchen W22.
10VLHOSP1A have been participating in this programme during Semester 1. They had the opportunity to learn some barista skills (how to use the espresso machine and making different types of coffee). The programme also provides the students the art and science of creating baking goods and pastries. Students leant the fundamental techniques of baking, proper food safety and hygiene practices and how to use various baking equipment safely and effectively from mixers to operating the oven. They have certainly developed lots of confidence and professionalism, and was able to work independently. These students baked a wide array of biscuits and cookies, as well as cakes. 10VLHOSP1A has had the privilege to bake for National Reconciliation Week celebration on 3rd June. The students also supported the Careers Team making 180 biscuits (a signature biscuit of the Trainer, Ms Helen Chong) as a door gift to the exhibitors.
Here are some highlights of the baked good throughout their journey in Semester 1. Well done 10VLHOSP1A.
