Primary School News
Dear Families and Students,
I often say this, but I really can’t believe we're halfway through Term Two. It was a quiet start for us this Term; however, we are finishing the Term with lots of activities and events.
Our Main program, grade 5/6 students, are off to Anglesea for a three-day camp next week. Hopefully, the sunny weather will return for them. We have our annual secondary school Eurythmy concert next week, where our primary school Steiner students have the chance to be the audience and watch this beautiful concert.
Over the last two weeks, our upper-year students have visited the Parliament House, the Symphony Orchestra, and the library on multiple occasions.
However, the most exciting news from the Primary school is the Junior Student Representative Council (JSRC). For the first time, the primary school will have its own SRC looking at issues that are unique to us whilst collaborating with the Senior SRC students. This idea emerged last year after the Students' Attitude to School survey identified an area of concern regarding student voice and autonomy. I would like to announce and congratulate the following students as our grade 6 JSRC captains:
Max North
Arie Hill
Courtney Desmons
Peachey Reginald
Macey Gacute
Millie Rangiwahia
Emiliana Casey
As well as our year 2 to 5 JSRC representative:
Frank Chapman, Ludwig Quiahuiti, Rye Wise, Theo Neate, Grace Henderson, Frankie Clarke, Suji Kim, Sara Alarmri, Masud Yasin, Hana Ring, Yasin Yasin, Ava Norman, Kohaku Kose and Ursula Ephraim.
I look forward to working closely with them to support and enhance our wonderful school. Thank you to Elly for leading this initiative.
Upcoming events:
Winter Gala Day for Grades 5 & 6
Our grade 5 and 6 students will participate in the Winter Sports Gala Day on Friday, June 20th.
Winter Solstice Lantern Festival:
Wednesday, June 25th
It’s that time of year again. Nights are long, days are short. When you gather your scarf and beanie, rug up, practice your lantern songs, and join us for our lantern festival. The students have begun making their lanterns, as always, in a variety of shapes, colours and designs.
Classroom teachers will be in touch with more information.
Reclink Community Cup
Sunday June 15th
This will be our third consecutive year of supporting the Reclink Community Football Cup, a wonderful charity event. Similar to last year, we will be in charge of the ‘Kids area’. Please pencil this date into your Calendars.
We are putting a call out for:
- River rocks, large shells, Honey Locust pods (for painting and decorating)
- Lemons and/or bags of sugar (for lemonade)
- If you have an olive tree, please hold back on pruning it, as we will need branches for making crowns.
Closer to the date, we will need your support with Kids Café food items. We had an incredible selection last year, and we sold out of everything. Of course, we will also need volunteers on the day. More information will be provided by me and the Marketing committee.
Please note that Friday, 25 July, in week one of Term 3, is a student-free day. School will be closed to students; our staff will participate in the third Berry St Model professional development. TheirCare will be operating on that day.
Keep warm,
Warmest regards
Sormeh

Outside Hours School Care (OHSC) - Bookings Now Open for TheirCare
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to announce that the booking calendar for Collingwood College TheirCare is now open.
To manage your bookings, kindly log in to your parent portal and access your booking calendar located at the bottom of your dashboard. Please ensure that your account is complete for the calendar to appear.
Additionally, we would like to provide you with an update regarding your payments and childcare subsidy.
Typically, we charge your out-of-pocket fees at the end of each week (in arrears). However, as Collingwood College TheirCare is a new service with us, there is a transition period for Centrelink to process the subsidy transfer.
Centrelink is currently in the process of transferring the service, and until this transition is complete, we are unable to determine the exact amount of out-of-pocket charges. Therefore, we anticipate commencing charges once Centrelink has processed the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
Once the transition is finalised, you will receive a system-generated email prompting you to log into your Centrelink account (via MyGov) to confirm your details for the service, ensuring that the subsidy is correctly applied to your account.
We wanted to inform you of this process in advance, should you be expecting a direct debit or enrolment notice.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Support Team during office hours at 1300 072 410.
Warm regards,
The Team at TheirCare
