Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,
This week is National Reconciliation Week, at the heart of reconciliation is the relationship
between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The week commemorates two significant milestones—the 1967 referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision—which were crucial steps toward recognition and justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, "Bridging Now to Next,” reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. The theme calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
Farewell Ms Natalie Ballinger
As previously announced to our community, Mrs. Natalie Ballinger will be leaving Holy Trinity to take up the position of Principal at St Gregory the Great Primary School in Doncaster. Natalie’s final day with us will be Thursday, 5th June.
To farewell and celebrate Natalie’s contributions to our school, we will be holding a special assembly on Wednesday, 4th June at 3:00pm in the Gathering Space. All are warmly invited to join us in acknowledging her achievements and wishing her every success in her new role.
Deputy Principal Appointment
With Natalie’s departure, I will be appointing a new Deputy Principal through an internal selection process. We are fortunate to have a number of excellent candidates, and interviews are being conducted this week. I look forward to sharing the outcome of this process with the community later in the week.
Mathematics Version 2.0
We are excited to inform you about the latest update from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). The revised Mathematics Curriculum, Version 2.0, is now fully implemented in our school. Here are the key points you need to know.
Principal Cuppa & Chat
One of the ways we will try to engage with parents more in 2025 is by holding a series of forums titled “Principal Cuppa & Chat”. These will be held termly and will be an informal way for parents to catch up with school leadership over a cup of tea and coffee to discuss Holy Trinity. There will be no agendas or minutes, and (almost!) any topic is open for discussion. The only protocol of the meetings is that you cannot denigrate any child, any family or member of staff. The hope is that these forums will be a great way for parents to understand the thinking behind school decisions, programs and protocols. The first of these Principal Cuppa & Chats will be on Monday 2nd June @ 9:15am immediately following the flag raising ceremony, please put this date in your diary.
Australia’s Best Teacher Campaign
Nominations are now open for the Herald Sun's Australia's Best Teachers campaign, which MACS are proudly partnering on once again. At the heart of every MACS school are the teachers who create vibrant centres of learning and growth—shaping the head, heart, hands, and soul of our young people. This campaign celebrates exceptional educators across our school communities and the profound impact they have in inspiring young minds to discover purposeful futures.
We have amazing teachers at Holy Trinity and I would like to encourage the entire school community to contribute nominations via the link above.
District Cross Country Success!
Congratulations to the Holy Trinity students who recently competed in the Knox District Cross Country! We are so proud of your determination, sportsmanship, and fantastic efforts on the day.
Our 9/10-year-olds tackled a tough 2km course, while the 11 and 12/13-year-olds ran a challenging 3km– and everyone gave it their all. A huge well done to the team for taking out the overall Scoresby District Cross Country win– an incredible achievement!

Prep 2026
The Prep 2026 enrolment interviews have continued over the past two weeks and it’s a process I look forward to each year. It helps to build a relationship with our incoming Prep students that we will continue to develop and share over the next seven years.
Enrolments Open for 2026
Enrolments for 2026 are currently open! If you have a younger child who turns 5 before 30 April 2026, please come and see Tania, Robyn or Rita in the office for an enrolment pack or click on the button below that will take you directly to the application form. Also, if you know of anyone else in the community with a child the same age, pass on our contact details– we would love to give them a tour of our fabulous school!
40th Anniversary
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Holy Trinity! Since our founding in 1985 we have been dedicated to providing excellence in education, fostering a vibrant learning environment, and building a strong and supportive community.
To commemorate this milestone, we have an opportunity to reflect on our rich history while looking ahead to the future. We invite students, parents, and staff to join us in celebrating four decades of learning, growth, and success.
Do you have any old photos or memorabilia that you could share and would be of interest to the community? We would love to share some old photos for everyone to enjoy.

Joke of the Week
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink.
She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"
FINAL THOUGHTS - The Parental Pause
“My mind is like my web browser. 19 tabs are open, 3 are frozen and I have no idea where the music is coming from!” - source unknown
I came across this quote the other day in some of my reading and think it captures perfectly how the minds of busy parents can seem at times. It’s a great metaphor for the enormous challenge for most of us to access our calm wise voice within, when we have so many distractions. Our heads are often too full of hurried thoughts, mindless ego chatter, to-do lists, self-criticism and self-judgement to be able to hear the quiet whispering of the higher self, “it’s okay – you’ve got this”.
Our children are a perfect example of how to be immersed in the present moment, focusing on the “here & now” and not getting caught up in the craziness of life! The “Parental Pause” is the perfect way to experience & observe the world through our children's eyes. I encourage you to take some time this week/weekend to try it out and see how you feel!
- Stand still. Ground your feet.
- Gently bend your knees.
- Place your right hand on your heart.
- Take a deep breath.
- Slowly stand close by or kneel near your child.
- Be present & still. Observe the world through their eyes.
Kind regards,
Steve Evans
