Art with Nicole & Emily

Years 3, 4 and 5

In the Art room this term students in 3/4 and 4/5 have been inspired by photos of Tape Art. The Wodonga Library Gallery has a community collaborative art exhibition where visitors are encouraged to use coloured tape to add to the walls, floor and windows of the gallery space to create a giant artwork.

In our classes, students have experimented with different tapes and techniques for creating line, shape and pictures. They have worked out different ways to make straight tape form curvy, wavey and spirally lines. With masking tape on black paper they have created birds to add to a collaborative bird tree artwork and now they are working on sea creatures to create an underwater world in our assembly space.

Here are some photos of them busily at work.

Prep-2, Strong, stable and balance

Students in Prep to year 2 have been learning about sculptures with Nicole.  Students used textas to color on paper with different patterns to create a textured look.  Spraying the coloured paper with water created a watercolour effect.  While these dried they moved onto the next element of their sculputures, creating a base with clay and a caterpillar using air drying clay.  These needed to dry out over a week so we could paint them.  We turned our watercoloured paper in to butterflies using pipcleaners and concertina folds of the paper.  To create the illusion of flying, our butterflies were suspended using strong wire.
