Principal's Report
By Carolyn Serpell
Yesterday, students in Year 5 & 6 headed off to Canberra, and are having a busy, but exciting time!
Their first day was marked with a trip to the Electoral Education Centre, the National Capital Exhibition and some evening fun at the Australian Institute of Sport's Sportex centre.
Today's highlights include visits to the GeoScience centre, the Australian War Memorial, the National Arboretum, Parliament House and after dinner, bowling! Tomorrow, our students will enjoy a visit to Questacon before making the trip home.
A huge thank you to our stoic and sleep-deprived staff and volunteers, Nicole, Hayley, Anna, Michelle, Pipere, Duanne, Heath and Rob, for their support in providing our students this valuable experience and opportunity.
After qualifying at the recent Upper Kiewa Cluster Cross Country run, tomorrow a number of our students will participate in the Upper Hume Cross-Country run in Wodonga. Many thanks to families for their support and good luck to our participating students!
This term's parent/teacher meetings will be held next week, from Monday 2nd June. Bookings are now open on Compass (please refer to the 'Conferences' section.)
As the long weekend approaches, families are reminded that Tuesday 10th June will be a pupil free day, to enable staff to undertake report writing. We hope that families are able to make the most of the extra long weekend, however OSHC will also be available for any families who require childcare. Please note that prior booking is essential.
Reminder: Due to recent concerns being raised about children's safety in and around the staff carpark, we ask all families to please refrain from using the staff carpark at drop off and pick up times. Families are also asked to remind their children, if they are walking home, along Lakeside Avenue, that they should only cross at the school crossing and not at other points along the road. If bringing dogs to school, please ensure that they are kept on a lead at all times.
Upcoming Community Events:
Thanks to Alpine Health, a Wellness Workshop will be held in our multi-purpose building on Tuesday 17th June 4.30pm. You are invited to join Lee Couch for a free, 2 hour workshop incorporating breathwork and meditation, traditional weaving and a yarning circle.
