Message from the Principal

Miss Parada

Dear families

I am excited to share that feedback from parents regarding the new newsletter format has been overwhelmingly positive! Many have expressed appreciation for the streamlined layout and accessibility of information, making it easier to stay informed about important updates and events within our school community. Your thoughts and suggestions are invaluable as we continue to enhance our communication, so please keep sharing your insights.

As we reach the halfway point of the term, there are still many activities taking place at school. From sports competitions to our extracurricular programs, our students are actively participating and showcasing their talents. Many of our extracurricular groups are busy rehearsing for upcoming performances, and the classroom is buzzing with learning and exploration.

NSW Public Schools Student Survey

In Term 2, we are offering our students the opportunity to participate in the NSW Public Schools Student Survey. The survey gives students the chance to share their thoughts and feelings about life at school, including questions about their engagement, learning experiences and wellbeing at school.

Hearing directly from our students will help us understand what’s working well and where improvements can be made to our school. The survey is confidential, takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and will be conducted online during school hours. Further information about the survey is available at https://education.nsw.gov.au/npss

Keeping our children and community healthy

Our school has measures to reduce the risk of flu, cold, COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses in our school community.

Here are some key points to keep in mind about the symptoms of these illnesses and how to prevent their spread.

Symptoms to look out for:

Runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, congestion, body aches, sneezing, fever, headache, sever fatigue, vomiting and Diarrhoea.

Prevention tips:

  1. Hand hygiene: Teach your children to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitiser can be used when soap and water are not available.
  2. Avoid touching face: Encourage your children to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth, as this is a common way for germs to spread.
  3. Cover coughs and sneezes: Remind your children to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their elbow when they cough or sneeze, and to dispose of tissues properly.
  4. Stay home when sick: If your child shows symptoms of the flu or a cold, please keep them at home to rest and recover, and to prevent spreading the illness to others.
  5. Clean and disinfect: Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces at home, such as doorknobs, light switches, and electronic devices.
  6. Vaccination: we encourage up-to-date vaccinations for our students and staff, including COVID-19 booster shots and flu vaccinations for anyone eligible.

What to Do If Your Child Gets Sick:

  • Keep them home from school and consult with your healthcare provider for advice and treatment options.
  • Monitor their symptoms and seek medical attention if they worsen or if you have any concerns.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy and safe.

Thank you for your attention and support.
