Confirmation Immersion Session
Yesterday was a special day for our Year 6 students as they embarked on an exciting learning journey about the Sacrament of Confirmation. Working alongside Lucas and their teachers, the students explored the importance of Sacraments in our faith.
Our Year 6s also delved into the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. They learned about:
Wisdom (seeing the world through God's eyes)
Understanding (grasping the truths of our faith)
Counsel (making good choices)
Fortitude (having courage to do what's right)
Knowledge (learning about God and our faith)
Piety (showing respect for God and others)
Wonder and Awe (awe and wonder in God's presence)
To share their newfound knowledge, the students got creative and made fantastic posters explaining these gifts to our Year 5 students.
The students were also fascinated to learn about the process of how Saints are chosen. They explored the lives of different Saints and understood why Confirmation candidates choose a Saint to guide and inspire them on their faith journey. It was a wonderful way to connect with the rich history of our Church.
We're so proud of our Year 6 students for their engagement and enthusiasm during this important session. They are well on their way to understanding this significant Sacrament!
The Ascension of the Lord
Today is a very special day in the Christian calendar called the Ascension of the Lord. It's a wonderful feast that remembers when Jesus went up into heaven, returning to be with God the Father after his time on Earth.
You might know that Easter is when we celebrate Jesus coming back to life. Well, the Ascension happens 40 days after Easter. It's traditionally on a Thursday, but we often celebrate on the following Sunday so more families can come to church and remember this important event together.
The Ascension is a joyful reminder that Jesus is now in heaven, and it also paved the way for the Holy Spirit to come at Pentecost, which we'll celebrate soon too!
Next Tuesday, 3/4N will be leading next week's Mass, and their theme will be all about the Ascension. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn more about this special day and share their understanding with everyone.
